THE EXPERIENCE

THE EXPERIENCE

Suspended within Ecuador’s extraordinary cloud forest, Mashpi turns the surrounding wilderness into the heart of the experience. Days are spent exploring with expert naturalist guides, walking forest trails, seeking out hummingbirds and waterfalls, riding the aerial Dragonfly gondola through the canopy or pedalling above the treetops on the wonderfully surreal Sky Bike. Back at the lodge, dramatic glass walls keep you connected to the forest while exceptional food, thoughtful service and a beautiful spa provide a luxurious counterpoint to the adventure outside. What makes Mashpi particularly special is the depth of its conservation and research work. This isn’t simply a hotel surrounded by nature, but a place actively helping to understand and protect it.

Hayley's Take

hAYLEY'S TAKE

Mashpi is exactly what I want the Wild Collection to be about. The lodge itself is striking, but the real luxury is having this extraordinary forest opened up to you by people who understand it intimately. I love that you can hike to waterfalls, glide over the canopy and spend time with the scientists actually studying what lives here. And knowing that staying here directly helps fund the protection and restoration of the forest makes it feel genuinely purposeful rather than simply luxurious.

SUGGESTED ITINERARY

Quito → Mashpi → Galápagos I'd spend a night or two in Quito, then drive out to Mashpi for 3 nights. From there I'd fly to the Galápagos, either to Pikaia or on a small yacht, so the forest and the islands sit side by side.
