WHY IT MADE THE COLLECTION

WHY IT MADE THE COLLECTION

A castaway island in the truest sense: wonderfully remote, beautifully unspoilt and surrounded by thriving reefs, with just a handful of cottages and an irresistible sense of having the Seychelles almost entirely to yourself.

THE EXPERIENCE

THE EXPERIENCE

There are just 23 cottages and villas scattered around this 375-acre private island, with no in-room Wi-Fi or televisions and very little reason to look at a screen anyway. Snorkel in the protected lagoon, dive the surrounding reefs, cycle around the island, look for nesting turtles and rare birds or simply find an empty stretch of beach. Behind it all is a working island community, farm and long-running conservation programme.

Hayley's Take

hAYLEY'S TAKE

Denis is what I picture when I think of a true private-island escape. It isn't about overwater villas or flashy restaurants. It's about waking up metres from an empty beach, cycling around barefoot, seeing giant tortoises wandering through the island and eating food grown just down the track. I love that conservation is such a huge part of the experience rather than something happening quietly in the background.

SUGGESTED ITINERARY

Mahé → Praslin → Denis Private Island I'd explore a little more of the Seychelles first, then finish with 4–5 nights on Denis when you're ready to completely slow down. The flight from Mahé takes around 30 minutes, so even getting there feels like part of the adventure
