WHY IT MADE THE COLLECTION
WHY IT MADE THE COLLECTION

Six private islands, three lagoons and 13 beaches hidden away in Indonesia’s Anambas Archipelago. Bawah is wildly beautiful, wonderfully remote and built around the idea that extraordinary travel and protecting a place can go hand in hand.

THE EXPERIENCE
THE EXPERIENCE
The adventure starts with a seaplane from the Singapore area, landing directly on Bawah’s turquoise lagoon. From there, days are deliciously unstructured: dive or snorkel the reefs, kayak between islands, hike through untouched forest, sail, practise yoga or disappear to the spa. There are just 36 suites and villas, surrounded by a 1,000-hectare marine conservation area, so despite everything there is to do, it still feels wonderfully removed from the rest of the world.

Hayley's Take
hAYLEY'S TAKE
This is exactly the sort of place I created the Collection to find. Remote, barefoot and ridiculously beautiful, but with so much more going on beneath the surface. I love that you can dive, hike, kayak between islands and then disappear for a spa treatment. The resort itself was built by hand, without machinery, from stone quarried on the island. Even the sinks and bathtubs were crafted on site from recycled copper.

SUGGESTED ITINERARY
I’d spend 3 nights in Singapore followed by 5 nights at Bawah. Brilliant food, bars and city energy first, then seaplane straight into island life. Simple, but a pretty spectacular combination.
