WHY IT MADE THE COLLECTION

WHY IT MADE THE COLLECTION

A wonderfully atmospheric hideaway high in Sri Lanka’s tea country, where spectacular mountain views, characterful design and immersive experiences capture the wild, romantic spirit of Ella.

THE EXPERIENCE

THE EXPERIENCE

This is a place to get outside. Walk up Little Adam’s Peak, explore the tea country, cycle through the hills or take on one of the more adventurous activities around the estate. The hotel itself is relaxed rather than ultra-luxurious, but that’s part of why I like it. You’re here for Ella, the landscape and those incredible views.

Hayley's Take

hAYLEY'S TAKE

I wouldn’t choose 98 Acres because it’s the most luxurious hotel in Sri Lanka. I’d choose it because of where it puts you. Ella is somewhere I want to be outside exploring, and here you’re right amongst it. Get up early, walk the hills, come back for a swim and spend the afternoon staring at that view.

SUGGESTED ITINERARY

Cultural Triangle → Kandy → Ella → South Coast I’d make 98 Acres a 2–3 night stop in Ella, breaking up the journey between Sri Lanka’s Cultural Triangle and the coast. It works brilliantly as the active, outdoorsy part of a bigger Sri Lankan journey.
